PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of manufacturing a rare-earth-based permanent magnet with a vapor-deposited film of aluminum or its alloy formed on a surface thereof with excellent adhesiveness. SOLUTION : When the vapor-deposited film of aluminum or its alloy is formed on the surface of the rare-earth-based permanent magnet by effecting evaporation while continuously supplying a wired vapor-deposition material of aluminum or its alloy to a melt evaporating part heated by a resistance heating system in a vapor deposition vessel, a vapor-depositing process is performed by controlling a temperature rise slope of a magnet from start to end of the vapor-depositing process to not more than 10 °C/min.
