Composition (I) comprises mica and glass, where the glass comprises silicon dioxide (SiO 2) (10-30 mole%), barium oxide (BaO) (5-40 mole%), boron trioxide (B 2O 3) (15-30 mole%), and zinc oxide, alkali oxide and alkaline-earth oxide at 15-65 mole%. Independent claims are included for : (1) obtaining a composite material comprising mica particles and glass matrix, comprising heat treatment of (I) in powder state, where the heat treatment occurs at a temperature such that the viscosity of the glass is 1.10 2>-1.10 3>dPa.s; (2) a material obtained by the process; (3) an electrical insulator comprising the material; and (4) glass comprising SiO 2, BaO, B 2O 3, and bismuth oxide (Bi 2O 3) (0.5-15 mol.%).
