FLUORESCENT NANOPARTICLE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide novel fluorescent nanoparticles provided with uniformity in particle size and high dispersibility in solvents in addition to luminous efficiency sufficient to be applied to bioimaging probe, and also provided with an amphipathic property useful in synthetic chemistry, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION : A complex of a surfactant and rare earth metal ions is formed by dropping an anionic surfactant (preferably oleic acid) into an aqueous solution of rare earth metal ions (Y and Ln), to which a vanadate source is added and hydrothermal treatment is performed. The fluorescent nanoparticles are obtained by recovering and drying the precipitates. The fluorescent nanoparticles include lanthanoid-activated yttrium vanadate (YVO4 : Ln) coated with the anionic surfactant, and are simultaneously provided with high luminous efficiency, uniformity in particle size, high dispersibility in solvents and an amphipathic property.
