PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen storage alloy with cost reduction and high corrosion resistance of rare earth-magnesium-nickel system hydrogen storage alloy obtained, and its charge acceptability improved, with the use of inexpensive iron. SOLUTION : The hydrogen storage alloy is expressed in general formula : (LaaNdbAcBd)1-vMgvNiwAlxFeyTz, and a, b, c, d in the general formula have a relationship of 0≤a, 0≤b, 0≤c, 0≤d<0.1, a+b+c+d=1, 0≤z≤0.5. And also the molar ratio v of Mg in the general formula is 0.10≤v≤0.25, the molar ratio x of Al is 0.10≤x≤0.20, the molar ratio y of Fe is 0.05≤y≤0.15, and further, w, x, y, z satisfy a relationship of 3.45≤w+x+y+z ≤3.65. However, in the general formula, A is at least an element selected from Sm and Gd, B is at least an element selected from Pr, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Sc, Zr, Hf, Ca and Y, and T is at least an element selected from V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, Mn, Co, Ga, Zn, Sn, In, Cu, Si, P and B.
