PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth-iron-manganese-nitrogen based magnet powder in which Fe-rich phase greatly decreases, to provide superior coercive force and squareness, being manufactured by a reduction and diffusion method at low cost.
SOLUTION : The rare earth-iron-manganese-nitrogen based magnet powder includes rare earth element, Mn, N, and remaining portion of substantially Fe, otherwise Fe and Co, with the rare earth element being 22-27 wt.%, Mn being ≤7 wt.%, and N being 3.5-6.0 wt.%. It is manufactured under a specified nitriding condition and reduction/diffusion method using specified material powder. It contains a phase having Th2Zn17 crystal structure and amorphous phase, and other coexisting Fe-rich phase is so reduced that the diffraction ray intensity ratio (X) in powder X-ray diffraction represented in the following equation becomes ≤10% : equation; X=I(Fe)/Im, wherein I(Fe) is intensity of diffraction ray where 2[!theta!] appears at 44-45° (Cu-Kα), and Im is maximum intensity in the diffraction ray of the Th2Zn17 crystal structure.
