PURPOSE : A silicon nitride filter for a vehicle and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce manufacturing cost of the filter, and to offer improved thermal shock buffering property, high temperature resistance etc. CONSTITUTION : A manufacturing method of a silicon nitride filter for a vehicle includes the following steps of : producing a compound by mixing a pore-forming agent between wood dust and acrylic resin and a sintering agent rare earth oxide, rare earth oxide/alumina, or rare earth oxide/magnesia, and silicon; producing a molding body by molding the compound through extruding molding, pressure molding and hydrostatic pressure molding; producing silicon nitride by nitrifying silicon; pre-sintering the silicon nitride; and progressing a sintering process of the silicon nitride after completing the pre-sintering of the silicon nitride.
