PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a countermeasure method against contamination which can purity a pollutant underground without leaving any and prevent the diffusion of the pollutant and a pollutant decomposition band to be used for the method. SOLUTION : The method involves steps of previously investigating the distribution of a pollutant b, the soil quality, the stratum slope, and water level slope of underground water; investigating the movement direction of the pollutant b from the previous investigation results; reclaiming earth and sand materials mixed with at least either microorganism decomposing the pollutant b or nutrients for activating the microorganism in the downstream side of the range where the pollutant exists; and forming a pollutant decomposition band for selectively collecting, decomposing, and removing the pollutant penetrating therein.
