PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a passive optoceramic with a cubic crystal structure, a method for producing the same and their use. SOLUTION : The optoceramic comprises a crystal matrix that is a polycrystalline material and has the formula of the compound of stoichiometry denoted as A(2+x)ByDzE7 (wherein, A is selected from the group of rare earth oxides; B is a tetravalent cation; D is a pentavalent cation; and E is a divalent anion).
