PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an improved simpler preparation process of a water absorptive molded product without using a thickening agent. SOLUTION : This preparation process is carried out by irradiating a water solution comprising a photopolymerization initiator and a water-soluble ethylenic unsaturated polymer with a light up to give a desired viscosity and discontinue the irradiation. The resultant thickened water solution is molded in a desired form and then it is re-irradiated with the light to complete the polymerization. COPYRIGHT : (C)2004, JPO&NCIPI
