PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a nitride phosphor having excellent heat resistance and emitting light in a yellow to a red region, and to provide a light-emitting device. SOLUTION : The nitride phosphor is composed of a nitride fluorescent material 11b or 11c represented by L-M-N : R or L-M-O-N : R (wherein, L contains one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and Zn; M contains one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of C, Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr and Hf; N is nitrogen; O is oxygen; and R is a rare earth element) and a coating material 12, 12b, 12c, 12d or 12e containing an N element and coating the nitride fluorescent material. The coating material is a metal nitride material or a metal oxynitride material and has light-transmitting properties and forms a microcapsule or can be formed into a multilayered structure. The light-emitting device is provided with a fluorescent member composed of a light-transmitting material containing the nitride phosphor and a light-emitting element. COPYRIGHT : (C)2004, JPO
