PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To efficiently remove an electrically conductive metal oxide on a liquid crystal substrate. SOLUTION : A technology is disclosed wherein a glass substrate 13 is recovered by removing an electrically conductive metal oxide film 17 and other layers 14-16 on the glass substrate 13, and reduced metal is recovered from the electrically conductive metal oxide 17 from the removed residue by heating and difference in specific gravity. A positive electrode 11 and a negative electrode 12 are sequentially positioned facing the electrically conductive metal oxide film 17 in the relative moving direction to the glass substrate 13. The negative electrode 12 is located so as to be present near the electrically conductive metal oxide 17 or abut on the same. Electrolyte liquid 20 is interposed between the positive electrode 11 and negative electrode 12, and the electrically conductive metal oxide film 17, and a voltage is applied to the positive electrode 11 and negative electrode 12. The positive electrode 11 uses an item with an end face facing the electrically conductive metal oxide film 17 bent roundly. The removal efficiency of the electrically conductive metal oxide is improved to increase the recovery of rare metals, to facilitate the reproduction of the liquid crystal substrate.
