The present invention relates to the use of a mixed oxide lanthan-free, containing the metals Ce, Zr, and another rare earth metal in oxidic form Nd, wherein the rare earth metal of Ce and Nd is different, as the catalytically active component in a particle filter. The invention also relates to a particle filter, comprising said mixed oxide, for the removal of soot particles from exhaust gases.
