A rare-earth-based permanent magnet having improved bondability. The rare-earth-based permanent magnet is one having superposed deposit films. It is characterized in that the outermost layer of the deposit films is an Sn-Cu alloy deposit film having a thickness of 0.1-2 µm, that the Sn-Cu alloy deposit film has a composition comprising 35-55 mass%, excluding 55 mass%, tin and copper as the remainder, and that the deposit films include two or more primary deposit films underlying the Sn-Cu alloy deposit film and comprising a nickel deposit film and a copper deposit film, the nickel deposit film among the primary deposit films directly underlying the Sn-Cu alloy deposit film. A bonded structure produced by using the rare-earth-based permanent magnet in combination with a silicone adhesive has satisfactory initial bond strength and decreases little in bond strength even through a moisture resistance test.
