PURPOSE : An electrode material for a cold cathode fluorescent lamp is provided to manufacture the electrode of the cylindrical form. CONSTITUTION : An electrode material includes the following contents. The inert gas or the mercury is sealed inside a glass tube(102). The glass tube has a fluorescent material layer(101) on the inside wall. A cathode fluorescent lamp(100) includes an electrode(103). An electrode disposes in the end part within the glass tube. The electrode is made of one selected from the group consisting of the rare earth materials such as Ti, Hf, Zr, V, Fe, Nb, Mo, Mn, W, Sr, Ba, B, Th, Be, Si, Al, Y, Mg, and In. The remnant of electrode is made of Ni or an impurity. One end part of electrode is opened, and the other end part is a cup shape.
