PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve a coercive force of a rare earth magnet using a quenched alloy as its raw material. SOLUTION : The rare earth sintered magnet has a main phase composed of a compound (R : a rare earth element) having a R2Fe14B type crystal structure and a grain boundary phase positioned at a grain boundary part of the main phase. The grain boundary phase has new constitution including an amorphous layer part covering the surface of the main phase and a nonmagnetic crystal layer part present in an area sandwiched between amorphous layer parts and suppresses the formation of a reverse magnetic domain.
