PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an optical fiber laser capable of easily controlling the absorption characteristics of the exciting light along the longitudinal direction of an optical fiber, planarizing the temperature distribution along the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber, and suppressing the generation of skew rays. SOLUTION : The optical fiber laser has an optical fiber 2 having a clad consisting of two layers around a core doped with a rare-earth element; photocouplers connected to an end of the optical fiber 2; and a plurality of light sources for making an exciting light become incident to the cladding via the photocouplers. The optical fiber 2 has an exciting portion 3, which is wound so as to differentiate the loss in absorption of an exciting light in the longitudinal direction. COPYRIGHT : (C)2009, JPO&INPIT
