PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a manufacturing method of an electrode material capable of obtaining a high discharge capacity, stable charge-discharge cycle performance, a high filling property, a high output and the like by using an inexpensive element abundant as a resource, and to provide a lithium ion battery. SOLUTION : In this manufacturing method, the electrode material is composed by reacting, in a solution or suspension, Li, A (A is at least one kind selected from Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and Cu), B (B is at least one kind selected from Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ti, Zn, B, Al, Ga, In, Si, Ge, Sc, Y and rare-earth elements), P and an electron conducting substance or a precursor of an electron conducting substance.
