PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, the activity of which is hardly deteriorated even when the catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas is used in an atmosphere of high temperature and high oxygen concentration.
SOLUTION : The catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas comprises : a compound oxide catalyst containing a first solid solution of a compound oxide, which is shown by general formula ABO3 and has a perovskite structure, and Pd or a second solid solution of another compound oxide, which is shown by general formula CDO3 and has the perovskite structure, and Rh and/or Pt; and a compound oxide carrier on which the compound oxide catalyst is deposited and which contains a first compound oxide, which is shown by general formula EF2O4 and has a spinel structure, and a second compound oxide shown by the general formula GAl12O19. In the general formulae, A is a rare earth element, B is a transition element, C is an alkaline-earth element, D is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr, Hf and Ce, E is an alkaline-earth element and/or a transition element, F is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Al, Mg and transition elements, and G is an alkaline-earth element.
