Method for diagnosing diseases in a mammal, preferably in a human, wherein a sample from the mammal is investigated with respect to an increased level of RNA helicase and the increased level of RNA helicase indicates the disease. The disease is oesophageal carcinoma, pancreatic carcinoma, gastric carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatoblastoma and cholangiocellular carcinoma.
