PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a magnesium thin sheet for flattening having excellent formability, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION : A magnesium alloy having a composition comprising, by weight, 1.0 to 6.0% zinc (Zn) and 0.2 to 2.0% rare earths (RE), and the balance magnesium (Mg) with inevitable impurities is subjected to rolling treatment at a rolling ratio in the range of >35% and in the temperature range of ≤300°C, and the magnesium alloy is formed, so as to be the shape of a thin sheet with a sheet thickness of ≤3 mm and a crystal grain size of ≤10 μm.
