PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a white light-emitting material having high output stability, high light-focusing property and high brightness as a white light source used for spectrometric analyzer, manufacturing control, illumination or the like. SOLUTION : The white light-emitting material is produced by including ytterbium ions as the divalent rare earth ions to be an emission center in a halide glass which contains : by mole, 20-45% AlF3; 0-15% MgF2, 7-25% CaF2, 0-15% SrF2 and 5-25% BaF2 as alkaline earth fluorides; 40-65% in total alkaline earth fluorides; and 10-25% fluoride of at least one element selected from the group consisting of Y, La, Gd, Yb and Lu.
