PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To develop an adhesive composition exhibiting stronger adhesiveness between dentin and a composite resin or a prosthetic appliance stable over a long period of time by improving adhesive strength and durability more in the adhesive composition containing an acidic group-containing polymerizable monomer. SOLUTION : The adhesive composition for dentistry, containing the polymerizable monomer having the acidic group derived from phosphoric acid as at least a part of the polymerizable monomer component, and exhibiting acidity is regulated as follows. A metal ion including an earth metal ion such as aluminum ion and lanthanum ion coexists in the composition, and the proportion of the total ion valence in the whole amount of the earth metal ion is from 0.2 to 3.0. The composition is substantially free from a conjugate base ion of a strong acid having a pKa value not higher than the pKa value caused by the first dissociation of the phosphoric acid.
