PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet exhibiting sufficient corrosion resistance and excellent heat resistance, and to provide its production process. SOLUTION : The rare earth magnet 1 comprises a magnet element 3, and a protective layer 5 covering the surface of the magnet element 3. The protective layer 5 comprises an inner protective layer 9 having a first layer 6 containing a rear earth element and covering the magnet element 3 and a second layer 7 having content of rear earth element lower than that of the first layer and covering the first layer, and a resin layer 8 containing resin and additive and covering the second layer 7.
