Sulfuric acid concentrating involves obtaining sulfuric acid (1) under atmospheric pressure, which has a higher temperature than boiling point of the acid corresponding to atmospheric pressure. Overheated sulfuric acid is obtained with a part in a downstream vacuum concentration (V1). Re-concentrated sulfuric acid (3) is mixed such that a mixture (2) results, whose temperature is lesser than the boiling point of the mixture relative to the atmospheric pressure. The mixture is promoted into a modifying step under atmospheric pressure in a downstream vacuum concentration by a pump (P1).
