PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of manufacturing a dielectric ceramic composition which achieves a high-temperature load life without changing its composition and offers a sufficient reliability even when the thickness of a dielectric layer in a multilayer ceramic capacitor is reduced. SOLUTION : The dielectric ceramic composition comprises a main component containing barium titanate and subcomponents comprising at least MgO, an SiO2 sintering aid and an oxide of a rare-earth element. The method of manufacturing the dielectric ceramic composition comprises a step of preparing a pre-calcining powder by adding a raw material for the main component and a portion of raw materials for the subcomponents as pre-added subcomponents, a step of preparing a calcined powder by calcining the pre-calcining powder and a step of obtaining a dielectric ceramic composition powder by adding the rest of the raw materials for the subcomponents as post-added subcomponents to the calcined powder. MgO and the SiO2 sintering aid are separately added as the pre-added subcomponent or the post-added subcomponent. COPYRIGHT : (C)2007, JPO&INPIT
