PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a cellulose acylate film having a high retardation value and a high Re/Rth ratio, and to provide a polarizing plate exhibiting a high contrast and high display qualities using an optical compensation sheet comprising such a cellulose acylate film, and a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION : The cellulose acylate film has a crystallization index [the ratio of the X-ray diffraction intensity at 2[!theta!]=27° and at 2[!theta!]=25°] of at least 0.70 and at most 1.02 and an elastic modulus in the film plane of at least 3, 800 MPa and at most 6, 000 MPa. The manufacturing method of the cellulose acylate film comprises casting dope on a support, stripping off the film after drying, and further stretching the film, where the crystallization index of the cellulose acylate film before stretching after stripped off is caused to be at least 0.70 and at most 1.00. The thus-manufactured cellulose acylate film is also provided. The optical compensation sheet comprises the cellulose acylate film.
