PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a solid oxide fuel cell capable of preventing overvoltage of an air electrode from augmenting and a manufacturing method of a solid oxide fuel cell. SOLUTION : Transition metal oxide contained in an intermediate layer 5 dissolves only slightly in a solid electrolyte in a solid state at an operating temperature of the SOFC in an oxidation atmosphere, but does not contain rare earth elements with large ionic radii such as La and Sr. Therefore, even if a high temperature heat treatment is applied to have it stably exist at an interface with zirconia, interdiffusion with the electrolyte 2 hardly occurs, and a non-conductive phase such as of pyrochroite is not generated. Thereby, it becomes possible to prevent increase of overvoltage of the air electrode 3 by providing the above intermediate layer 5. COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
