PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method and apparatus for easily and effectively separating oil from earth/sand content from oil-contaminated earth/sand. SOLUTION : Water is boiled by a steam boiler 1 to produce steam. When the stream is discharged outside after being injected into an inner chamber from a nozzle, the negative pressure produced in the inner chamber is utilized so as to suck the oil-contaminated earth/sand by using a steam ejector 2 sucking an object to be sucked. Therefore, the oil-contaminated earth/sand is exposed to high-temperature steam, by which the oil can be separated from the earth/sand. Further, at the sucking time of the steam ejector, a strong shearing force acts on the oil to separate the oil from the earth/sand. Thereafter, the oil can be separated from the earth/sand by a cyclone separator 3, and a water bath 5 for separating oil from earth/sand. COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
