PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To stably increase the electromotive force of a battery by using an electrode plate formed by attaching carbon to the surface of a metal plate by using high-temperature diffusion.
SOLUTION : This battery is provided with : power generation elements 3a-3d composed of intercalation compounds prepared by mixing fine powder formed of a rare earth-based compound among layers of carbon having a three-dimensional mesh structure and an electrolyte; a positive electrode plate 1 formed by heating a copper plate together with aluminum to a temperature higher than the melting point of aluminum and lower than that of copper to diffuse, at a high temperature, aluminum and carbon on the surface of the copper plate; a negative electrode plate 2 formed by jointing solid carbon to aluminum and arranged oppositely to the positive electrode plate 1 by interposing the power generation elements 3a-3d between the plates.
