PURPOSE : An optical fiber is provided to obtain optimum gain smoothing of an amplification bandwidth by a rare earth material and a Raman amplification bandwidth by controlling light pumping power and the length of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION : According to an optical fiber comprising a core(10) and a cladding(20), a first element for inducing a nonlinear Raman phenomenon is included in the core. A second element is included in the core or the cladding. The second element is a rare earth element. The optical fiber is Raman-amplified to a first band and a third band by the first element with a pump light having more than two wavelengths, and is amplified to a second band by the second element. © KIPO 2006
