IMPROVED (AMM)OXIDATION CATALYST AND CATALYTIC (AMM)OXIDATION PROCESS FOR CONVERSION OF LOWER ALKANE

PURPOSE : An improved (amm)oxidation catalyst and a catalytic (amm)oxidation process for conversion of lower alkanes are provided, wherein the MMO1 catalyst performance is improved by vapor deposition of a sub-monolayer of Te onto a surface of the catalyst, and post-treatment of the Te vapor deposited MMO1 catalyst with oxygen at an elevated temperature provides improved catalytic performance when compared with a corresponding sample treated with an inert gas at the same elevated temperature. CONSTITUTION : An improved (amm)oxidation catalyst comprises one or more modified mixed metal oxide catalysts having an empirical formula. The empirical formula is MeMoVaNbbXcZdOn, wherein Me is at least one chemical modifying material, X is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Te and Sb, Z is at least one element selected from the group consisting of W, Cr, Ta, Ti, Zr, Hf, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ni, Pd, Pt, Ag, Zn, B, Al, Ga, In, Ge, Sn, Pb, P, Bi, Y, rare earth elements and alkaline earth elements, 0.1<=a<=1.0, 0.01<=b<=1.0, 0.01<=c<=1.0, 0<=d<=1.0 and n is determined according to the oxidation states of the other elements, and wherein the catalyst is improved by performing a sub-monolayer deposition of Te onto the surface of the catalyst by vapor deposition. © KIPO 2006
