A thermoelectric transformation material which has an elemental composition represented by a general formula : AlzGayInxMuRvOsNt or a general formula : AlzGayInxMuRvDwNm , wherein M is a transition element, R and D are each at least one element selected from among rare earth elements and IV group or II group elements, respectively, 0 & z & 0.7, 0 & y & 0.7, 0.2 & x & 1.0, 0 & u & 0.7, 0 & v & 0.05, 0.9 & s+t & 1.7, 0.4 & s & 1.2, 0 & w & 0.2 and 0.9 & m & 1.1, with the proviso that x + y + z = 1, and has an absolute value of a Seebeck coefficient at 100{C or higher of 40 žV/K or more. The thermoelectric transformation material is composed of elements having a low toxicity, is excellent in thermal resistance, chemical resistance and the like, and also exhibits a high thermoelectric transformation efficiency.
