RUST PREVENTION METHOD FOR PUMPED WELL WATER BY IMPROVEMENT OF WATER QUALITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rust prevention method for pumped well water by improvement of water quality which performs stable, long life operation of a storage pump without deteriorating the pumping capability of the storage pump by oxidizing iron content comprising iron ions and ferrous bicarbonate in the earth to ferric hydroxide with ozone water in a gravel layer through which ground water flows to effectively remove iron content in the gravel layer. SOLUTION : An injection well 14 for injecting the ozone water into a polluted part 1 is installed by enclosing the well with a barrier 6 to reduce the flow rate of the ground water. A plurality of the storage pumps 9 are symmetrically installed downstream of the injection well 14. The ion content and ferrous bicarbonate in the earth are oxidized to ferric hydroxide. The ferric hydroxide, turbidity, and manganese can be effectively removed by a viscous microorganism biofilm in the surface of the gravel layer 4. COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
