PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of manufacturing a combined compound containing zirconium which enables to obtain a powder high in the degree of forming solid solution of zirconia/ceria or zirconia/magnesia, and a zirconium-containing combined compound manufactured by the method. SOLUTION : The method of manufacturing the zirconium-containing combined compound chracterised in that, after a raw material solution containing zirconium-containing salts and rare earth metal salts or/and alkaline earth metal salts is brought into contact with a pulse combustion gas, the raw material solution is heat-treated in an oxidizing environment, and the zirconium-containing combined compound manufactured by this method, are provided.
