PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst by which toxic gas can be removed satisfactorily effectively in a sufficiently wide temperature range, the manufacturing cost of which can be reduced satisfactorily and which can contribute sufficiently to resource conservation. SOLUTION : This catalyst is manufactured by depositing an iron oxide and a noble metal on a carrier containing a metal oxide. This catalyst contains 0.0004-1 mass% noble metal based on the total mass of this catalyst and 0.005-15 parts mass noble metal based on 100 parts mass iron oxide. This catalyst has sufficient activity since the nobel metal assists the catalytic function of the iron oxide even when only a very small amount of the noble metal being an expensive and rare resource is used.
