PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a copper-based alloy having mechanical properties comparable with or superior to those of a conventional bronze alloy (CAC406) which has been generally used heretofore while securing the machinability comparable with that of the CAC406 even if the contents of rare elements (Bi, Se and the like) being alternative elements for Pb in the alloy are decreased by a correct perspective for true properties of the rare elements (Bi, Se and the like), and in which the occurrence of casting defects can be suppressed through the elucidation in the effect of the decrease in the alternative elements for Pb on the soundness of a cast product which has not been elucidated, and inexpensively producible as well by the decrease of the rare elements, and to provide a cast ingot and parts to be contacted with a liquid each using the alloy. SOLUTION : In the copper alloy, Sn, Bi and Se are contained in the ranges satisfying the relational inequality of -3.6Sn2+32Sn-13Bi-30(Se-0.2)-26Ni2+32Ni+(185±20)>195, and thereby its tensile strength is improved.
