PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain excellent storage stability of data by using a composite compd. of a mixture of specified three or more kinds of dielectric compds. for the material of a protective layer of a medium in which a recording layer is heated by irradiation of light beams for recording. SOLUTION : The protective layer of the optical information recording medium consists of three or more kinds of compds. including chalcogenides, rare earth oxides and zinc oxide. The phase transition medium consists of a phase transition type recording layer formed on the substrate and a protective layer formed on at least one face of the recording layer, and preferably the medium has a structure of substrate/lower protective layer/recording layer/upper protective layer/reflection layer, and more preferably, has a UV-curing or thermosetting resin coating layer thereon. When plural protective layers are formed, at least one layer contains the three kinds of compds. above described, and especially, when protective layers are formed on both sides of the recording layer, it is preferable that the both layers contain the three kinds of compds.
