PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an R-T-B-based rare earth permanent magnet that achieves a higher magnetization rate in a low magnetization magnetic field and allows the magnetization rate to rise quickly until a magnetization rate reaches the vicinity of 100%, for example about 90%.
SOLUTION : In the R-T-B-based rare earth permanent magnet that contains a large amount of heavy rare earth element and hence has a high coercive force, the average crystal grain size of a sintered body and the amount of oxygen contained are suppressed, and an element such as Nb is contained, thus confirming that new and superior magnetization characteristics can be obtained. For the magnetization characteristics, f1/f3×100 is at least 60% and f2/f3×100 is at least 85% when total flux applying an effective magnetic field of 240kA/m is set to f1, when total flux by applying an effective magnetic field of 400kA/m is set to f2, and when total flux by applying an effective magnetic field of 2000kA/m is set to f3 if Pc is equal to 2.
