PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide optical material in which flocculate does not occur even if rare earth element like Er is mixed to high density and which is suitable for material of a core layer of an optical amplifier which amplifies an optical signal of 1.55 μm wavelength band. SOLUTION : The optical material is formed by mixing alkoxide of rare earth element M (where M is any one kind of element out of Er, Eu, Pr and Y) to poly silane shown by a formula (1). In the formula (1), R1-R4 are Ph (phenyl group), Me (methyl group), Et (ethyl group), OMe (O-methyl group), and OEt (O-ethyl group) or O-Si-O (crosslink).
