An additive for a ship bottom paint, characterized in that it comprises a fl y ash being pulverized so as to have a particle size of 1 to 12 .mu.m on avera ge and a dried powder of diatomaceous earth, preferably a beer yeast diatomaceo us earth in a weight ratio of the pulverized fly ash and the diatomaceous earth powder of (7 to 3) : 1; and a ship bottom paint comprising the additive.
