PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an undersea mining base that can deal with a soft ground accumulated on a surface of a seamount and an inclination and undulation of a seabed deposit. SOLUTION : An undersea mining base 20 comprises : a mud collecting device 30 for collecting rare earth mud from a seabed deposit OD; and a platform 21 equipped with the mud collecting device 30 and capable of self-traveling to at least one of an X direction and a Y direction. The mud collecting device 30 includes : an injection pipeline for injecting high-pressure sea water toward the seabed deposit OD to loosen the rare earth mud; and a suction pipeline juxtaposed to the injection pipeline to suck the loosened rare earth mud together with the sea water.
