PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer saponification product which is not foamed even if subjected to melt extrusion with a screw for polyolefins and is excellent in gas barrier properties. SOLUTION : The ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer saponification product satisfies the formula (1) : 14750×Mw-0.75≤ECD (1) (wherein ECD denotes a standard deviation of the width of the compositional distribution of ethylene for a re-acetified product of the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer saponification product as determined by liquid chromatography equipped with an evaporation light scattering detector, and Mw denotes a weight average molecular weight of the re-acetified product of the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer saponification product as determined by GPC using tetrahydrofuran as a solvent and polystyrene as the standard).
