PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a luminous body having high energy conversion efficiency, and a light source device, a heat radiation device, and a thermal electron emission device using the luminous body.SOLUTION : A luminous body includes a base substance made of metal whose melting point is 2000K or more, and a radiation control film which emits light having a specific wavelength onto the base substance. In the radiation control film, in ZrOfilm or HfOfilm whose crystal structure at room temperature is composed of a cubic crystal or a mixed state between the cubic crystal and a tetragonal crystal containing the cubic crystal as a main phase, one of an oxide of alkaline earth metal and an oxide of a rare earth element is solid-solved.
