PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To achieve high strength by changing composition while maintaining producibility of a zinc alloy for die casting by a hot chamber die casting machine.
SOLUTION : A composition ratio is changed as follows : a zinc alloy for die casting includes 6-20 wt.% of aluminum, 2-10 wt.% of copper, 0.1 wt.% or less of magnesium, and 0.01-0.2 wt.% of misch metal, with the balance comprising zinc and unavoidable impurities. The zinc alloy for die casting achieves tensile strength of 595 MPa compared to 289-304 MPa of conventional ZDC-2, and has potential for diversion to an engine component etc. of cast iron etc., which is required high accuracy and high strength, thereby contributing to shortening of work periods and improvement in performance.
