PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a metal collecting method by which target metal elements can be efficiently collected from a slug produced during metal refining of a tin slug or the like. SOLUTION : When target rare earth elements are collected from a tin slug produced during tin refining, a molten slug produced in a refining step is quenched at a cooling speed of 300°C/sec or more and is crushed, and then the slug obtained in a step for producing a slug is leached by acid or alkaline to leach the target elements included in the slug. Then, a leaching solution is subjected to at least one processing or a combined processing of at least two processings among neutralization treatment, redox treatment, solvent extraction treatment, precipitation treatment, to collect the target elements.
