PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To invent a method for producing a Zn2SiO4 : M type fluorescent material which is homogeneous and can be mass-produced, while lowering the cost of production. SOLUTION : The method for producing the fluorescent material includes melting a raw material batch and cooling the resulting melt to deposit a Zn2SiO4 : M type crystal (M is at least one selected from Mn and rare earth elements) as a main crystal. The raw material batch preferably comprises, in mol%, 60-79.9% ZnO, 20-39.8% SiO2, and 0.1-20% MOx (x= 1 to 2). COPYRIGHT : (C)2012, JPO&INPIT
