PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To solve the following problem : an SmFeF-based material has a low Curie temperature of 155°C and a value of magnetization of the material is unknown, whereas an Nd-Fe-B-based magnet uses a fluoride containing a heavy rare-earth element to have larger coercive force, however fluoride does not perform reaction to fluorinate a main phase and the heavy rare-earth element reacts with the main phase or is diffused and the heavy rare-earth element is expensive, consequently reduction in the heavy rare-earth element is necessary.
SOLUTION : The magnetic material is composed of two kinds of ferromagnetic phases that are : a ferromagnetic compound composed of one kind or a plurality of kinds of rare-earth elements including fluorine, iron and yttrium; and ferromagnetic iron containing fluorine, carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen or boron, wherein a fluoride and/or an acid fluoride are formed partially at a grain boundary of or on surfaces of the ferromagnetic phases.
