PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a DC reactor capable of providing a stable and satisfactorily high inductance over a wide current range while surely retaining stability of the characteristics. SOLUTION : In gaps 13 formed in an annular magnetic core 1, there are inserted permanent magnets 2 to produce a magnetic flux directed oppositely to the direction of a magnetic flux generated by a coil 3 wound around the magnetic core 1. Each of the employed permanent magnets 2 has magnetic characteristics such that a residual magnetic flux density of the permanent magnet 2 is 25% or more of a saturation magnetic flux density of the magnetic core 1 and the magnetic coercive force is 796 kA/m or larger. As the above-described permanent magnet 2, an Sm-Co based bond magnet, or an R[20-35 wt.%]-Fe, Co[63-72 wt.%]-B[1.2 wt.% or less] based (R represents a rare earth element of the La system) rare earth bond magnet is employed.
