A dielectric ceramic is provided to form a multi-layer ceramic capacitor having temperature characteristics capable of satisfying X8R characteristics and having high specific resistance under a high-temperature environment. A dielectric ceramic comprises, as a main component, a compound having a perovskite structure represented by (Bi_0.5Na_0.5)_xBa_(1-x)TiO_3(wherein, x is 0.05-0.2), a first sub-component, and a second sub-component. The first sub-component contains 0.25-1.50 moles, in terms of an oxide of one atom in one molecule, of at least one kind of rare earth metal selected from Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Y, 0.20-1.50 moles, in terms of an oxide of one atom in one molecule, of Mg, and 0.03-0.60 moles, in terms of an oxide of one atom in one molecule, of at least one kind of metal selected from V, Cr, and Mn, based on 100 moles of the main component. The second sub-component contains SiO2 or a glass component mainly comprising SiO2.
