PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a technology for adsorbing arsenic and a component harmful for other environments at a high efficiency. SOLUTION : The adsorbent can be manufactured by a step for reacting a material containing an oxide of a rare earth metal with an acidic chemical, forming this to a hydroxide by an alkaline chemical, and further oxidizing the hydroxide by an oxidizing agent.
